Design a Signature Build Step

Add one focused build phase where the customer assembles or designs something that clearly affects their outcome (plan, setup, routine, workspace, toolkit). Make the result highly visible so they can think "this is my version", not just "the standard version".

Turn Setup into a Progress Story

Break a key setup or learning process into a small number of named steps and show progress clearly. Celebrate completion of each step (even lightly) so effort feels meaningful and finishable instead of endless.

Showcase Imperfect Creations

Regularly highlight real customer creations or first results, even when they're not perfect. Use language that credits their effort: "Here's what Anna built in her first month", "This is Mika's version after three sessions."

How You'll Know It's Working

Customers talk with pride about "their" setup, process, collection, routine, or results—not just about your product or service.
The most invested customers are the ones who have completed key effort steps, and they stay clearly longer.
Small flaws or friction do not immediately lead to churn, because people feel they have too much of themselves in the system to walk away lightly.
You see higher completion rates for build/setup flows and longer active lifetimes among those who finish them.
